This week, Ringette Ontario would like to recognize two extraordinary teams with Team of the Week: The U16A London Lynx team and the U10 St. Catharines team.
U16A London Lynx
The London Lynx U16A ringette team is a great group of girls. They recognized Breast Cancer awareness month by hosting a “Pink the Rink” Day for their first home game this season. This initiative involved parents, opponents and players in a day of ringette that featured lots of pink on sticks, skates, helmets, and fans in the stands. Through a silent auction, direct donation and bake sale, the girls were able to raise more than $1000 to be donated to support the Breast Care program at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. This group of girls is truly a team in every sense of the word, both on and off the ice. This initiative demonstrated their selflessness in raising awareness for a cause that touches many individuals and families in our community. This team has also had great success on the ice this season so far. London Lynx U16A own the rink!
U10 St. Catharines Comets
Our girls competed in our home tournament over the weekend. During the Gold Medal Game against Burlington they were down 9-3 with only five minutes left in the game. They were able to regroup, and played hard tying the game and winning 10-9 in overtime. Their perseverance and determination earned them a well deserved Gold Medal. We couldn’t be prouder of them all!
Ringette Ontario would like to commend these players, coaches and parents for their amazing work this season! Continue to Own The Rink!
